第一阶段，首先进入浓缩阶段，螺旋轴向前转动时，螺旋轴外围的多个定环相对移动,重力作用下，水从动定环间隙中滤出，从而快速实现浓缩。

第二阶段进入脱水阶段，浓缩过的污泥随着螺旋轴的不断往前推动向出泥口方向，螺距逐渐变小，各个环之间的缝隙也越来越小，主体内部的体积不断变小;在出泥斗背压板背压板的作用下，压力逐渐变大，在螺旋轴不断推动下，污泥中的水分从动环定环缝隙中流出，滤饼含含水率不断减少不断升高，最终实现连续脱水，达到污泥目标的含水率。

Under the continuous push of the spiral shaft, the water in the sludge flows out from the gap of the fixed ring, and the moisture content of the filter cake continuously decreases and increases. Finally, continuous dehydration is achieved to achieve the target moisture content of the sludge.

第三阶段是自清洗阶段，设备长时间和污泥打交道，不经常清洗，污泥干化了可能造成堵塞，但叠螺机很少出现这种情况，因为叠螺机本身带有自清洗功能通过:螺旋轴的旋转，依靠固定环和动环之间的不断移动可以连续的自清洗，总而避免传统设备出现的堵塞问题。
